Project requirements
The described care-home challenges include residents leaving permitted areas, incidents in patrol blind spots and limited staff visibility. Manual patrols and paper records may delay detection and make timely responses difficult.
Solution
The proposed UWB system covers the relevant care-home areas for resident-location monitoring.
Anchors are placed near corridors, activity rooms, dining areas, bathrooms and entrances. The described badge/wristband tags include SOS and optional fall-sensing functions, with enclosure and battery specifications to be confirmed for the selected devices.
The platform combines live positions, geofences, SOS, optional fall detection, history and activity records, with interfaces to care scheduling, access control and video.
A Key Function:Multi-Level NotificationsThe proposed workflow combines motion sensing and UWB position state to generate a fall-related notification, displays the resident's location, alerts staff to unauthorized exit or zone departure, and prioritizes SOS events. Staff acknowledgement and response time are recorded. Detection and response performance require evaluation for the care application.
The case description reports results in resident monitoring, response and care management:
Resident MonitoringIt reports no missing-resident events during its evaluation, complete interception of monitored exit events and incident detection below thirty seconds compared with twenty–thirty-minute patrol intervals, approximately 97% faster. These are case-specific claims, not a medical-device performance guarantee.
Response EfficiencyReported emergency response decreased from eight–ten minutes to under two minutes, approximately 80%, and event-handling time by approximately 50%.
Care ManagementThe case reports approximately 40% better patrol efficiency and 25% higher family satisfaction, with activity maps and routine reports supporting management.
