Project requirements
Integration must retain the cart's structure and storage while accommodating UWB, drive, power, camera mounts and equipment without compromising balance. UWB controls cart following; camera framing is handled separately by the camera/gimbal system. Outdoor stops, turns, slopes and uneven surfaces require motion and sensor tuning, while power and wiring must support the filming workflow.
Solution
Solution Design
The reference is the customer's existing three-tier cart, retaining its black shelves, yellow supports and upper push handle, with compatible UWB and drive controls added.
The presenter wears a following tag. The cart tracks relative range and direction while its shelves carry cameras, monitors, wireless devices, batteries, cables and props.
An adjustable camera mount or gimbal points toward the presenter. Automatic framing and camera tracking are separate camera-system functions; the UWB kit moves the cart.
System Components
- Existing Three-Tier Cart:Retain the frame and loading platforms for filming equipment and props.
- UWB Ranging and Angle Anchor:Mount on the vehicle to measure presenter range and direction.
- UWB Following Tag:Worn or carried by the presenter as the tracked target.
- Following Controller and Drive:Convert range/direction data into driving, steering and stopping commands.
- Camera Equipment and Mounts:Fit a phone, camera, monitor or gimbal and adjust orientation for the filming workflow.
- Power and Obstacle Sensors:Select according to the existing drive, outdoor route and application requirements.
For an existing electric cart, assess interfaces to its motor control. A manual cart also requires suitable drive wheels, motors, battery, controller and braking components.
How It Works
UWB measures the presenter's relative range and direction. The anchors provide these measurements to the following controller, which maintains the selected separation. Front/rear anchors support target-side identification, with motion tuned to the cart.
The camera or phone captures the presenter. Automatic reorientation or centered framing requires a suitable tracking camera/gimbal; the UWB following kit alone does not provide that function.
For improved angle processing, smoother steering or sensor coordination, assess the UWB/AI functions available in the actual delivered version.
Application Value
The presenter focuses on narration, interaction and demonstrations while the cart moves equipment. Filming positions can change with the route without fixed ground markers.
Estimated Outcomes
For a representative outdoor workflow with equipment transport and frequent location changes, the source estimates:
- 40% less manual cart-pushing and equipment-transport time.
- 30% less preparation time for changing filming locations.
- 25% more effective continuous mobile-streaming time.
